Israel and Suicide Killers

For some time I have been saying that the best way to get rid of terrorists is to give Israel a whole bunch of money and a whole bunch of weapons.

Here is an article pointing out why this is true.

Israeli's seem to have a core competence in stopping terrorism. We should think of the IDF as the Home Depot of anti-terrorism. They've seen it all, done it all, and know it all.

The Israelis understand the importance of defense, but they also know the importance of offense:

"An organization with 25 percent of its leadership destroyed cannot function properly and launch attacks," he said. "If I had to choose between defense or attack, it is far more cost effective to go on the attack."

So here is a solution:

1. Good spies
2. Good technology
3. Targeted Assassinations

Straight out of the Minority Report

That's what I'm talking about. (Or rather, that's what I was talking about a few posts ago.)

Huff and Puff About Bank Mergers

So it seems Canada's annual political game is back again. The Finance Minister is talking about Bank Mergers.

Liberalized rules on bank mergers are required, but alone they will do very little to promote Canada's financial sector. Specifically, all liberalized rules on mergers will accomplish in the short run is allowing credit unions, mostly in Quebec, to merge.

The Conservatives should push for deep reforms to our financial institutions. The basis of such reforms must be: 1. uniform financial structure, 2. liberalized banking rules, and 3. deep capital gains tax cuts.

As a federalist it pains me to say that the government of Canada must find a way to make OSC rules uniform across Canada or at the very least come up with a Uniform Securities Legislation. I am told that Quebec is on board with this and the only hold outs are Alberta and British Columbia. To have 6 different issuing rules across this country is absolutely nuts. Canada does not have a big enough capital market for it. More importantly, having to issue 6 different version of the prospectus and filing 6 different times makes capitalization a very expensive process. This is part of the reason why Canadian companies, like Rogers, go down south to get their junk bonds.

Here is what Alberta has to say on the record on this issue. So the Feds should start cornering Alberta into acting already. The most recent proposal does not go far enough. This should be a solely federal responsibility.

Canada's financial sector, thanks to independents on Bay Street and the current situation in the market, is in a great position to grow quickly. The government must stop holding it back.

Terrorist on Terrorist Crime

During the height of IRA's terrorist attacks on the innocent people of the United Kingdom, many Orangemen started putting up Israeli flags to oppose IRA's loose affiliation with Arab terrorists.

Today, it seems, IRA's political wing, Sinn Fein, has done a complete 180.

Here is what they had to say on the London bombings:

"Sinn Féin have condemned the bomb attacks in London."

"On behalf of Sinn Féin I offer my sincere condolences to the victims and
the families of those killed and injured and to the people of London. "

You got to be kidding me. The people who INVENTED bombing civilian targets as a part of a terror campaign are condemning the same actions they used merely a decade ago.

This is nuts!

What the hell is wrong with the world?

According to this, one out of every three children is having sex at the age of 10, and 17 out of 100 will deliberately spread the virus if they know they are HIV-positive

They are not even teenagers!

Sir Bob and Bono should be trying to fix this instead of Africa's debt problem.

Read the whole article. It gives some good insight about what is wrong with Africa.

Ready, Set, Die

That's the message from our Deputy Prime Minister. You should mentaly brace yourself for a terror attack.

I know I have prepared myself for quite some time.
During the last federal election, I was given ample reason that I should not be sending volutneers to campaign at the GO Station because of the possibility of a terrorist attack.

So here is an idea: If you, Mme. Minister, think that we might be attacked, why don't you do something about it?

It seems that all Liberals are willing to do is prepare Canada for what will happen after an attack. All funding has gone to emergency services and the such. Why can't our government spend money on intelligence and on armed forces so we can figure out who wants to blow us up and how we can kill them before they get on the the Subway at Bloor St?

Canada's immigration problem

Lots of ink has been spilt taking about the dying Europe. Those on the left and right have talked about the low birth rate of the native Europeans and how their culture is being forgotten one generation at a time.

Yet no one seems to talk about Canada in the same way. After all, Canada does not yet have the same fertility problems that most European countries face. But this does not mean Canadian culture is not disappearing. Canada, for nearly all its history, has been highly dependent on immigrants like myself. In order to populate the vast land, our country has needed lots of us.

But in the past decade or so many of Canada’s new citizens have begun resenting their adopted land. Many first generation Canadians are, well, not Canadian at all.

Take my friend’s girlfriend for example. She had come from Toronto to California to visit us and was staying at my apartment. Somehow I started talking about the origins of the American national anthem and the war of 1812 where our red coats kicked some American ass and torched the White House. She responded by saying “Canadians fight? I didn’t know they had the balls.” I was about three seconds from throwing her out of my apartment. Instead I went on to explain Canada’s proud military history.

Now this young lady is not a dumb teenager. In fact she recently graduated 3rd in her class at University of Toronto. The fact that this new immigrant dislikes Canada and Canadians and still refers to her love for Iranians should be a cause for concern. The fact that she is not a least bit patriotic, at least not towards her adopted home, should have been grounds for refusing her citizenship.

Yet our country is filled with people like her, and their numbers are growing. At this rate, how long will it be before the majority of Canadians actively dislike their own country?

Now don't get me wrong, I'm not opposed to immigration. In fact I favour unlimited immigration. I just think in order to become a new Canadian, at the very least, you ought to like Canada.

I still celebrate the day I got my Canadian citizenship (Feb 14th.) As far as I’m concerned, anyone who doesn’t, does not deserves theirs.
