There is no way I'm getting a bike,
if my girlfriend sees this. Quick, can someone tell me how I can delete something from cyberspace?
Seriously, this is shocking!
I have wanted a Harley for as long as I can remember. So I have been following the death/accident rate on bikes for some time. This is a huge spike.
I wonder if the numbers are similar for Canada. Does anyone have this info? Specifically, does anyone have any info on accidents on bigger bikes vs. smaller bikes?

The problem is pretty much identified in the article:
1) Increase in bike ownership; up by something like 10% annually in Canada over the last few years, same for the US I imagine;
2) Most of the new owners are old guys, with slower reflexes, more easily injured and heal more slowly (=more deaths).
3) The old guys can afford the big bikes, thus increasing the risk further.

There is nothing "sane" about owning a motorcycle.
I've wanted to for as long as I remember, this summer I finally did it. Put on about 3000 km's so far.
There is NOTHING like it. Nothing.
